The brick forms the foundation of many built structures around the world. Together with a multitude of other units, the bricks symbolizes a solid and enduring space as well as power, possession and strength. Its might and fortitude sustains entire buildings and the people that occupy them. They provide shelter, protection and a home. Noor Ali Chagani captures these qualities represented by a brick to serve as a metaphor for traits that are expected in males in Pakistan’s society. They are assumed to be pillars of strength, not meant to reveal any weaknesses.
