Didier Naert likes to play with vintage photographs and create new artworks with them like a puzzle. He calls this technique “Extension”. In “Extension #11” the artist combines two original photographs, one of them is a photograph from the famous french photograher Eugène Atget, one of the pioneer from the early days of photography, the other one is anonymous. “Extension #11 – Notre Dame” shows the Seine, the river dividing Paris, with a group of fishermans, and the view of the cathedral “Notre Dame” from a surprising cobblestone street angle. The use of light pink color in the sky is very unusual in Didier Naert palette used here to show the time of sunrise.
