Observation of the natural world, music and travels inspires my body of work. My recent paintings in particular, explore joy and energy, expressing a sense of flight and freedom. Also, the free expression of art styles deriving from Zen aesthetic to abstract expressionism and colour field painting has influenced my work greatly.
The non-touching, dripping technique is conducted in the air, ink moving in various straight lines, circling right and left and finally landing on paper and canvas. It’s the wild experimental gesture action in the air and the immediacy of the result full of freedom and rhythm that is challenging and gratifying. Ultimately, in that process, the painting is carved away in search of finding the final form physically and psychologically, to arrive at the essence of the composition.
