About Daniel Farioli

Daniel Farioli (b.1942) lives and works in Nice. His first solo show was at the Art Center of Rotterdam in 1973, and he has since then exhibited several times in Northern Europe, France, USA and UAE. He was the co-founder of the collectif Callibre 33 from 1978 to 1988 with Genevieve Martin, Dominique Angel and Gilbert Pedinielli. He won the Art Award of the Texas French Alliance in 2011 and is part of several private and public collections such as the MAMAC.

Since the start, the trapeze shape is a constant in Farioli’s work. The trapeze has been used not as a basic geometric shape, but as a specific choice to look at the world in opposition to almost all civilizations that have based their visual organization on the vision of the rectangle frame. Farioli’s paintings, sculptures and other creations dare the improbable fusion of realism and abstraction in a broken world, where there exists a multiplicity of false perspectives and transformation which he calls: “the raid of the third outcast”. «Everything happens as if there were no voids, no distance between one of my paintings and the Empire State Building .»

Recurrent symbols that are part of his work are the trapezium and the mini skateboard,  used by him to add another point of interest in his work and creating space between the objects.
