Jorge Luis Pouyu (1967) lives and works in Santiago de Cuba. His work employs energetic brushstrokes that are reminiscent of the abstract expressionists. Dripping, splashing, smearing and scratching the surface is seen on his canvas. His incorporates additional fabric that he stitches on to the canvas to create more texture and depth. He participated in the 2nd and 3rd Biennial of Havana and will also be represented in the 3rd Biennial of Havana.
