Alliance Francaise and Antidote present “Flying away” a photography exhibition by French photographers Antoine Grospiron-Jaccoux and Severine Blanchet, showing for the first time in the Middle-East.
The works selected explore the poetic view of traveling in an old-style manner, without a defined plan and with a sense of discovery and respect for new places found.
The photographs play a visual game of abstraction of pure subjects: sky, desert, and water. The work allows an image to bend over the essential, morph the figurative into the abstract, and reveals a newfound beauty of the landscape or a city like Cuba for Séverine Blanchet.
Both these artists take that traditional approach, using vintage Leica camera for Antoine Grospiron-Jaccoux, and classic techniques as entirely part of their photography process to create a poetic narrative for the viewer while revealing the subtle shifts of the nature of their subject.
Alliance Francaise, Oud Metha, from December 7st to 17th 2015.
Sunday – Wednesday 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
