Farah Mahbub lives and works in Karachi, Pakistan. A brief association with an Advertising Agency as a photographer, right out of college, led Farah Mahbub to photography. Working at the agency for a year, she collected enough money to buy her first camera and photo equipment in 1988. She started teaching photography at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Karachi in 1997 where she continues to teach presently.
Being largely self-taught, she exhausted her resources to educate herself with the science and technique of the camera and the darkroom. The main advantage of being self-taught, she discovered was that her ideas could develop more originally, independent of any influence.
